To be a true leader in your field, you have to be constantly thinking ahead and planning for a future you may not even be able to imagine. Toyota does this every day, which is why for the second year in a row it has been recognized as a leader in automotive innovation.
In 2015, Toyota was issued more patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office than any other automaker, for a total of 1,636 patents. And, over the last eight years, the total number of patents is more than any other automotive company.
Each year the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) tracks patents and where they came from. Toyota is the only automaker included in the IPO top 20 list. Toyota shares the list with the likes of Microsoft, Google, IBM, and Apple.
Some of Toyota’s recent patents include creating artificial skin for mannequins used in pedestrian safety tests, fabrics that clean themselves, and helping autonomous vehicles detect and safely respond to emergency vehicles.
Here at Muller Toyota, we are proud to be a part of a company that focuses its attention on creating smarter mobility solutions for the future of transportation. Come see what the future looks like by driving home in a new Toyota today.
