The first thing you’ll probably notice about the redesigned 2016 Toyota Avalon is the front end. To stare down its nose is to appreciate the new grille design: wider, lower, and more narrow. It’s a classy touch and a good hint at how the rest of the redesign went. Smart, subtle, deliberate, stylish.
On the exterior, the new Avalon received some other enhancements. There are dapper new turn signals, and taillights are now LED. The light grey interior is highlighted with grey accent stitching.
As far as power, the redesigned 2016 Toyota Avalon comes in two flavors. A highly capable 3.5-liter V6 making 268 horsepower should meet the needs of anyone shopping in the segment. There’s also the greener option, a 2.5-liter hybrid good for 200 horsepower.
The upper trim levels, from XLE to Limited, get an underbody retooling. The suspension on these versions has been tuned for what CarScoops calls “a more dynamic and responsive driving experience.”
The redesigned 2016 Toyota Avalon was revealed to a warm reception recently at the Chicago Auto Show. The midsize flagship goes on sale later this year.
