Making its East Coast debut, the new Toyota Mirai Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle is the latest in Toyota Alternative Energy Technology. The new fuel cell car debuted at the DC Auto Show, showing industry leaders the importance of zero emission technology.
According to Toyota, the new model features a range of up to 300 miles, takes 5 minutes to refuel, and only emits water vapor. Although you may have heard of fuel cell vehicles, the Mirai is the fine-tuned and perfected version.
“Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles launched between 2015 and 2020 will require a concerted effort and collaboration between automakers, government regulators, academia and energy providers,” said Nihar Patel, Toyota’s Vice President of North American Business Strategy.
Toyota called on the government to improve infrastructure to allow for these groundbreaking models to be able to drive freely up and down the coast. The Mirai will soon be available later this year, and owners can receive up to $7,500 in tax credit when buying a zero emission vehicle. This new model is certainly making the transition from gas to hydrogen easier than ever.
